Aligns to 7:166 / 170 (94.1%), covers 99.4% of PF01931, 175.4 bits
- function: Phosphatase that hydrolyzes non-canonical purine nucleotides such as XTP and ITP to their respective diphosphate derivatives. Probably excludes non-canonical purines from DNA/RNA precursor pool, thus preventing their incorporation into DNA/RNA and avoiding chromosomal lesions. ITP and XTP are the best substrates, followed by GDP and dITP. Is not active on dATP and dGTP, and exhibits no phosphatase activity toward pyrimidines (CTP, TTP, UTP, dCTP, and dTTP) (PubMed:16216582). Seems also implicated in the resistance against the thiamine metabolism inhibitors bacimethrin and CF3-HMP (PubMed:15292217).
catalytic activity: H2O + XTP = H(+) + phosphate + XDP (RHEA:28406)
catalytic activity: H2O + ITP = H(+) + IDP + phosphate (RHEA:28330)
cofactor: Mg(2+) Mn(2+) (Binds 1 divalent cation per subunit. Activity is maximal in the presence of Mg(2+), while Mn(2+) decreases the activity by 20%.)
subunit: Homodimer.
PRRC1_HUMAN / Q96M27 Protein PRRC1; Proline-rich and coiled-coil-containing protein 1 from Homo sapiens (Human) (see 2 papers)
Aligns to 263:383 / 445 (27.2%), covers 67.3% of PF01931, 41.8 bits
- function: May act as a regulator of the protein kinase A (PKA) activity during embryonic development.
subunit: Interacts with PRKAR1A; resulting in PKA activation.
PRRC1_DANRE / Q5XJA3 Protein PRRC1; Proline-rich and coiled-coil-containing protein 1; Protein misty somites from Danio rerio (Zebrafish) (Brachydanio rerio) (see 2 papers)
Aligns to 253:369 / 435 (26.9%), covers 51.2% of PF01931, 34.2 bits
- function: Acts as a regulator of the protein kinase A (PKA) during embryonic development.
subunit: Interacts with PRKAR1A; resulting in PKA activation.
disruption phenotype: Knockdown of prrc1 results in small eyes and severe somite defects in embryos.
